Abstract

The interaction of N-arylhydroxylamines with 9-chloroacridine results in quenching of the native fluorescence observed in 9-chloroacridine solutions. Monitoring this fluorescence at activation and emission wavelengths of 400 and 430 nm., respectively, permits the analysis of arylhydroxylamines at concentrations in the range of 10−7-10−8 M with an accuracy of 1–5%. The method described in this communication was applied to various arylhydroxylamines and to mixtures containing hydroxylamines and possible interfering chemical species.
