Effet de L'irradiation a 253. 7 NM De La Vapeur du Mercure

Abstract

The mercury concentration in a clean, evacuated quartz vessel remains unchanged upon irradiation with the 253. 7 nm resonance line at room temperature. The observations of Shimomura et al and Slevin et al, can be explained by the reaction of electronically excited mercury with traces of oxygen and water vapor to give mercuric oxide.
