Determination of Tartrate Ion Activity Using a Commercial Selectrode™

Abstract

A commercial ion-selective electrode, the Selectrode™, has been used successfully to measure tartrate ion activity in aqueous solution. The electrode was activated with a cuprous sulphide-cupric tartrate mixture. Preliminary measurements have indicated appreciable selectivity for the tartrate anion.
