Abstract

Modifications to a coulometric instrument for measuring gaseous nitric acid have improved response-time characteristics and simplified assembly and operation. Possible interferences were investigated and found minimal. Comparison measurements of nitric acid by long path infrared analysis of smog chamber experiments were in good agreement and serve to confirm the utility of the coulometric method, even under adverse conditions.
