Abstract

Cu(II), Sb(III), Bi(III) and Pb(II) were cathodically deposited to a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE) from a 1.0 M HCl medium in a flow cell followed by quantification by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV) in a malonic acid / HCl stripping medium. Well-defined peaks were observed and peak separation of ΔEp > 80 mV was achieved for the four metals. This method has been applied successfully to the analysis of environmental water samples. Recovery of 100±7 % was obtained at 10−8 -10−9 M levels and detection limits were at the level of 10−10 M.
