A complete edition of his scientific works, Le Opere di Alessandro Volta, Milan, 1918–1929, 7 vols., was published to mark the centenary of his death. This work is here referred to as Opere. The publication of the rest of the correspondence, together with all known letters to and about him, was completed in 1955—Epistolario di Alessandro Volta, Bologna, 1949–1955, 5 vols. Am. Sc. di Op. is Scelta di opuscoli interessanti' raccolti dall'ab. Carlo Amoretti, Milan. Where the only reference given is to the Opere, the material was previously unpublished.
