Abstract

Statistical-morphometric analysis of certain ultrastructural features of amastigotes, such as their diameter, contour length and microtubule number demonstrated that the Leishmania parasites found in seven cases of human mucosal, cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis in the Sudan belonged to the same group of the genus Leishmania. The values of these measurements corresponded to those described in L. donovani.
