Regularity properties of viscosity solution of nonconvex Hamilton–Jacobi equations

Pages 1104-1119 | Received 07 Feb 2017, Accepted 05 Dec 2017, Published online: 18 Dec 2017

ABSTRACT

Some properties of characteristic curves in connection with the viscosity solution of the Hamilton–Jacobi equation (H,σ) defined by the Hopf formula u(t,x)=maxqRn{x,q-σ(q)-tH(q)} are studied. We are concerned with the points at which the solution u(t, x) is differentiable, and the strip of the form R=(0,θ)×Rn in the domain Ω where u(t, x) is of class C1(R).
