ABSTRACT

In this paper we study the stability issue of the inverse problem of determining an inclusion contained in a stratified medium assuming the conductivity to be isotropic and variable coefficients. We prove a modulus of continuity of logarithmic type which, according to examples showed in [Di Cristo M, Rondi L. Examples of exponential instability for inverse inclusion and scattering problems. Inverse Probl. 2003;19:685–701], turns out to be optimal.
