On the monotonicity preservation of polynomial extrapolation sequences

Es wird untersuch, unter welchen Bedingungen die Folge[d],definiert durch

monoton ausfāllt, wenn (y _i ) eine gegebene, monotone und Konvergierende Folge reller Zahlen ist. Für den Fall, daß die w ⁽ⁱ⁾ _j nicht vom Index i abhängen, ergeben sich einfache Bedingungen, die auf Vorzeichenuntersuchungen gewisser polynome hinauslaufen. Der Fall n = 2 wird ausführlich behandelt.

Assuming that (y _i ) is a given, monotone, covergent sequence of real numbers, conditions are investigated under which the sequence (u _i ) defined by

is monotone. In case the w ⁽ⁱ⁾ _j do not depend on the index i there are simple conditions arising from investigations of the sign of certain polynomials. The case n = 2 is treated in detail.
