Positive solutions to singular boundary value problems with at most linear growth

Pages 171-196 | Received 16 Mar 1990, Published online: 02 May 2007

Abstract

This paper presents existence results to the nonlinear boundary value problem y′′ + f (t, y, y′) = 0, 0 < t < 1 with y satisfying either (i). y(0) = y′(l) = 0 or (ii). y(0) = y(1) = 0. The problems discussed may be singular at either y = 0 or y′ = 0 or both. Singularities at t = 0 and/or t = 1 are also discussed.
