Abstract

We survey some topics involving the Whitham equations, concentrating on the role of ψψ^∗ (or square eigenfunctions) in averaging, where ψ is the Baker-Akhiezer function. Some connections to symplectic geometry and Seiberg-Witten theory are indicated.
