Pages 304-306 | Received 09 Dec 1969, Accepted 08 May 1970, Published online: 01 May 2013

Abstract

Serologic evidence is presented which indicates that Hong Kong influenza virus represents an example of discontinuous antigenic variation. In addition, evidence is presented that suggests that both A2 and Hong Kong viruses had a past period of prevalence in the period from 1890 to the early 1900’s.
