Abstract
Strains of influenza virus A2/Ann Arbor/6/60 were compared for susceptibility to selected inhibitors by quantitative hemadsorption, using a cold variant at 25 C and 35 C and the original strain at 35 COl Amantadine hydrochloride in.. hibited equally in all cases, hydroxyurea in none. Selenocystine inhibited only at 35 C, PI (II) (NH3)2Cl2 inhibited only at 25 C, and gymnemic acid A inhibited each strain at its adapted temperature" Some of these responses may provide chemical markers and specific tools for studying the temperature adaptation of virusesm Hydroxy"" urea, Pt (II) ((NH3)2Cl2, and selenocystine also inhibited influenzal lung lesions in mice.
