Abstract

Using a newly devised method of calculating very small kinetic differences, it was established that both sulfur dioxide and ozone inhibit the enzymic activity of acetylchoUnesterase (AChE) in vitro. Starting from approximately 4 ppm for S02 and 0.3 ppm for 03, the relative activity of the exposed AChE can be derived from the formula: y = 100 – be 00 , where y is the relative enzymic activity and x is the concentration of the polltant.
