Abstract
An unusual epidemic associated with two different forms of bacteria and two different sets of symptoms occurred. Adding to its peculiarity is the fact that its primary cause was a common source of infection. The pathogenic mechanisms cannot be defined with certainty. Interesting speculation can be projected, however, concerning the enhancement of symptoms produced by one bacteria by a concomitant infection of another organ system by another bacteria.
