Genetic Disorders in Isolated Populations

Abstract

Four rare genetic diseases, Kuskokwim disease, serum cholinesterase deficiency, methemoglobinemia, and adrenogenital syndrome, have been found in unusually high frequency in Western Alaska. Their presence can be explained by genetic principles applicable to small populations.
