Mercury in Man

Abstract

Mercury analyses were performed on tissues removed at autopsy from 47 human subjects from two geographical areas. Data obtained from lung, liver, and kidney could not be correlated with age, sex, or place of residence at the time of death. The highest concentrations of mercury were found in the kidney. Whether wet or dried tissue is analyzed does not affect the result.

Data are presented to establish some base line for levels of mercury in a general population.
