Rembrandt, Callot, and Tobias Stimmer

Pages 224-230 | Published online: 04 Mar 2015

Abstract

Rembrandt's architectural settings have received relatively little attention, and the discussion started by Carl Neumann1 more than fifty years ago has not been resumed until recently.2 That Neumann's interest should have been focused on Rembrandt's conception of the Temple of Jerusalem is only natural since this building appears in a number of Rembrandt's Old and New Testament scenes.
