SUMMARY
The approach being adopted by one Australian State forest service in development of environmental impact statements is discussed with reference to experience in the United States. Some comments are made on the use of matrices, methods of involving the public in decisions, and the need for multi-disciplinary teams. A view is expressed as to future needs and trends in so far as forestry operations are concerned.
