SUMMARY
A broad-scale survey of farmlands of the lower South Coast Region of New South Wales in 1973 involved the classification of the potential productivity of the farmlands for plantations of radiata pine (Pinus radiata D. Don), and the delineation of the main areas of marginal land. The classification was based on measurements of radiata pine woodlots in the Region and assessments of the physical characteristics of the farmlands. The survey showed plantations of radiata pine to be technically feasible on most of the farmlands with most productive areas coinciding with the main areas of marginal farmland.
