SUMMARY
Estimates of soil-infestation by Phytophthora cinnamomi in well-stocked stands of Eucalyptus sieberi in eastern Victoria were made using a soil-baiting technique. Gross basal area increment (GBAI) over two years of trees on “infested” plots was compared with the GBAI of trees on “infestation-free” plots. GBAI was not affected by the measured soil infestation intensities.
Implications of this result are discussed.
