National forest policy — myth, manifesto, mandate or mandala?

Pages 261-269 | Published online: 15 Apr 2013

Summary

For seventy years, people have been talking and writing about a “national forest policy” for Australia, and anyone reading the mass of material on the subject might be pardoned for being confused about it. In this paper, the author sketches the historical background, comments on current proposals and suggests the Institute might appropriately offer its views on the matter at a national conference on “Facing Forestry's Future”.
