Summary
This note gives the first record of wood moth infestation of merchantable 45 year-old mountain ash, (Eucalyptus regnans), trees. The infestation has persisted for at least two decades, and butt lengths of infested trees were degraded for use as mill logs. Only 80% of the expected mill log volume was harvested, and a royalty loss of about $360 ha−1 occurred as a result of damage caused by the moth larvae.
