Summary
Mean dominant height curves for the ash species (Eucalyptus regnans and Eucalyptus delegatensis) have polymorphic trends for different sites. A model is required that can predict polymorphic mean dominant height trends. The current STANDSIM mean dominant height model and the Chapman- Richards' generalised von Bertalanffy's model predict anamorphic trends. ‘Dynamical models’ have the flexibility to predict polymorphic trends and were therefore used to model mean dominant heights for different site index ranges. However, more data for the different site index ranges will be required to fine tune the models manually or by use of recursive algorithms that re-estimate coefficients of dynamical models as new data become available.
