Abstract

The structure of education and training must alter to reflect the technological changes in the surveying and mapping industry, satisfy demands for professional development and recognition, and create opportunities for job flexibility. The continual creation of new academic subjects reflecting only a new ‘tool’, or the addition of some new material to establish a new study programme, should give way to the development of an integrated and industry driven dynamic educational structure reflecting the needs of all the industry stakeholders.
