Bicosoeca accreta sp. nov., a flagellate accumulating extraneous silica fragments

Abstract

Bicosoeca accreta sp. nov. is described by light and electron microscopy. This species is so far unique in the genus in accreting extraneous fragments of mainly inorganic material on the outside of its amorphous undifferentiated lorica.
