Typification of the British salt- and brackish-water species of Vaucheria (Tribophyceae)

Abstract

In connection with a treatment of the genus Vaucheria for “Seaweeds of the British Isles”, this paper gives an account of the typification of the species dealt with.

In the case of V. litorea, where British material falls into two groups with different dimensions, the variation has been studied in a recent sample which agrees well with the scanty type material and was taken in the same region under rather similar conditions.
