The hen's egg: Independence of weight at oviposition and the sex of the chick

1. Cockerels tend to be heavier than pullets at hatching and an experiment was therefore done to test the null hypothesis that the eggs from which cockerels hatch are, on average, at oviposition of the same weight as those from which pullets hatch.

2. The experiment did not disprove it.
