Preservation of quail blastoderm cells in liquid nitrogen

Abstract

1. Quail blastoderm cells isolated from the yolk were preserved in liquid nitrogen.

2. Frozen‐thawed blastoderm cells of the quail were viable and survived in vitro. By injecting the frozen‐thawed cells into chick embryos, quail‐chick chimaeras were produced.
