Bimas: A New Approach to Agricultural Extension in Indonesia

Abstract

The Bimas programme of agricultural extension was conceived by a small group of young men without prior experience in extension work. The people who work with the farmers are also young and without extension experience, fourth and fifth year students from the colleges of agriculture. Yet the programme has been very successful in encouraging farmers to increase their production.
