Determination of Diazepam in Forensic Toxicology

Pages 27-29 | Received 19 Nov 1974, Published online: 22 Nov 2013

ABSTRACT

Forensic laboratories are dealing mainly with therapeutic blood levels of diazepam and these levels are in the microgram percent range. To obtain a more sensitive extraction procedure, a modification was made to the Wells' screening method to remove the drug diazepam. This method of extraction was more sensitive for diazepam than the Wells' screening method and more rapid than the Zingales' Method when applied to 8 post-mortem blood samples which had been positive for diazepam.
