Wernicke's Encephalopathy and Hypothermia

A Contribution of the Mammillary Bodies in a Case of Unexpected Death

Pages 83-85 | Received 01 Aug 1977, Published online: 22 Nov 2013

ABSTRACT

An autopsy on a man who died unexpectedly in the street, disclosed no alcohol or drugs in the blood but the mammillary bodies showed the microscopic changes of Wernicke's encephalopathy. Reasons are given for attributing death to hypothermia.
