The Characterization of Saliva and Seminal Stains in the ABH and Lewis Systems using the Same Stain Extracts

ABSTRACT

A method is described for determining A, B, H, Lea and Leb antigens in parallel on the same saliva or semen stain aqueous extracts. The procedure for A, B and H determination uses the tube hemagglutination inhibition technique in parallel with a plate elution technique using polycarbonate as the sole substratum. The procedure for Lea and Leb determination involves a tube hemagglutination inhibition technique. A series of sequential dilutions of the stain extract are made to assess the antigenic strength and hence the significance of the reactions obtained.

RÉSUMÉ

On a décrit une méthode pour déterminer les antigènes A, B, H, Lea et Leb qui se trouvent en parallèle sur le même extrait aqueux de tache de salive ou de sperme. La méthode visant à déterminer les antigènes A, B et H consiste en l'utilisation de la technique d'inhibition de l'hémagglutination en tube, ainsi que de la technique d'élution sur plaque qui fait appel au polycarbonate comme seul substrat. Pour identifier les antigènes Leb et Leb, on se sert de la technique d'inhibition de l'hémagglutination en tube. L'extrait de tache est soumis à une série de dilutions séquentielles afin d'évaluer sa teneur en antigènes et la signification des réactions obtenues.
