A Novel Application of Headspace and GC-FT-IR Analysis to Identify the Ethyl Acetate Complex of 06-Acetylmorphine

ABSTRACT

The ethyl acetate (1:1) complex of 06-acetylmorphine, although amenable to characterization in the solid and solvated states, cannot be detected as a complex by conventional gas chromatography. This paper describes a method whereby the solvent of complexation is detected by headspace analysis, the host substance is detected by GC analysis of the residue in solution, while both components are simultaneously characterized by FT-IR from their respective GC streams.

RÉSUMÉ

Le complexe d'acétate d'éthyle et 06-acétylemorphine (1:1) bien qu'on peut le caractérizer à l'état solide et dans un solvant, on ne peut pas le détecter par analyse classique de Chromatographie en phase gazeuse. Cette publication décrit une méthode par lequel le solvant de complexation (la moitié, la plus volatile) est détecté par analyse «headspace» pendant que l'autre moitié est mise en solution pour l'analyser par CG tandis que les deux composés sont caractérisés simultanement par IR-TF.
