A Report on the use of the P/ACE™ Capillary Electrophoresis System as a Stand Alone UV/VIS Spectrophotometer in a Forensic Toxicology Laboratory

ABSTRACT

The investigation of a capillary electrophoresis system as a potential replacement for a UV/Vis spectrophotometer is described. Results from the photodiode array detector of the Pace MDQ system were compared to those analyses performed on a Hewlett-Packard 8451A Diode array system. Results of this study show that the capillary electrophoresis system can act in the dual role of stand alone spectrophotometer for procedures in this laboratory.

RÉSUMÉ

Nous présentons l'évaluation d'un système d'éiectrophorèse capillaire utilisé comme remplacement possible à un spectrophotomètre UV/Vis. Les résultats obtenus avec le détecteur à barrettes de diode du MDQ Pace sont comparés à ceux du Hewlett-Packard 8451 A. Les résultats de cette étude démontrent qu'un système d'électrophorèse capillaire peut être utilisé comme spectrophotomètre lors de certaines procédures dans notre laboratoire.
