SUMMARY

The Author discusses the kariogram of Gagea Soleirolii Schultz, collected on Mt. Iscova (Sardinia) at 1185 meters above sea-level. After examining the taxonomic position of the species, he states that the diploid chromosome number is 2n = 36. He compares this kariogram with others known within the genus Gagea, which constitute a good example of an euploid series, having a basic number of x = 12. The kariogram of G. Soleirolii Schultz, is thus triploid in respect to G. graminifolia and G. minima.
