Position and frequency distribution of chiasmata on the single A group bivalent of Cepaea nemoralis has been studied in snails sampled from ten populations. Results indicate that there is no localisation of chiasmata between chromosome arms. In the majority of snails the distribution of chiasmata between cells is non-random although within cells normal interference relationships appear to operate along the A group bivalent.
