SUMMARY
Specimens of the rodent Oryzomys flavescens from Uruguay and Argentina were analyzed with C-banding, and in situ hybridization methods. The two populations share autosomal C-bands located pericentromerically but they differ on the pattern of the Y chromosome. The satellite DNA sites coincide with the C-band distribution. The C-band polymorphism observed in pair n. 3 of argentinian specimens is supported by the finding of different hybridization signals of satellite sequences on both homologues.
