Pages 403-409 | Received 19 Oct 2005, Accepted 07 Nov 2005, Published online: 18 Dec 2012

Abstract

Plant with very low chromosome number are of interest for the analysis of the structure of chromosome and chromatin organization. Many studies have been carried out on the evolution of the karyotype in the Angiosperms with only two chromosomes in their haploid complement. The results of these analyses in the five Angiosperms with 2n = 4 have been reported with the aim to provide further insight into the origin and the organization of their chromosomes.
