Abstract

A similar boundary layer corresponding to the injection of a fuel such as hydrogen into an oxidizing stream with chemical behavior idealized according to the flame sheet model is treated. For the hydrogen-air system for which the numerical calculations are presented the model can be expected to be valid if the temperature within the boundary layer is not above 2500 °K. On the basis of several numerical examples, it is found that the present analysis under some circumstances predicts a boundary-layer behaviour in good agreement with that given by equilibrium calculations. The special treatment required for “ massive blowing” is demonstrated so that the analysis may be considered to apply to the entire range of injection rates.
