Effect of Metallic Additives on the NO^-Emissions From a Small Oil Burner

Abstract

This paper presents results—based on stack gas composition—of the effect of additives in a No. 2 oil on NOx-emissions. The most effective additives were manganese compounds which lowered the measured stack concentration by about 20%. The data were obtained from a small oil burner and reported as a NOx-emission ratio. This ratio was studied both as a function of additive concentration and oxygen index.
