Abstract

A single cylinder diesel engine study of water-in-oil emulsions was conducted to investigate the effects of water emulsification on particulate emission and the IMEP, with the fuel-air ratio ranging from 0.02 to 0.07. Results indicate that an optimum water content for particulate reduction seems to be between 10 and 20 percent by volume, and that with equal amount of fuel injection the IMEP is minimally affected with water addition.
