Abstract

Radial and axial profiles of temperature and species concentration were determined in a 10-cm combustor. The results indicate that two processes are very important in achieving good combustion efficiency: (1) mixing of the fuel-rich boundary layer near the wall with the air-stream, and (2) combustion of soot. Conditions for efficient soot combustion were favorable al low air port velocity and high equivalence ratio, because the soot particles were sufficiently healed. The experimental results of the temperature and species concentration measurements are reported in detail to provide guidance for analytical modeling,
