Abstract

—Experimental results are reported concerning the axial temperature profile, the exit conversion and NO_x emission levels of a catalytic combustor for various inlet temperatures, velocities and fuel–air ratios.

The catalytic combustor is formed of binary transition metal oxides (Co₃O₄, Cr₂O₃) supported on highly porous alumina pellets; lean propane-air mixtures are used for combustion.
