Effect of Inlet Parameters and Bed Length on the Operating Characteristics of a Catalytic Combustor

Pages 71-84 | Published online: 02 Apr 2008

Abstract

—Experimental results are reported concerning the axial temperature profile, the exit conversion and NOx emission levels of a catalytic combustor for various inlet temperatures, velocities and fuel–air ratios.

The catalytic combustor is formed of binary transition metal oxides (Co3O4, Cr2O3) supported on highly porous alumina pellets; lean propane-air mixtures are used for combustion.
