Ignition Length of Laminar Combustible Pipe Flows

Abstract

Ignition of laminar combustible pipe flows is investigated theoretically. The ignition length of pipe flows is analyzed by the method of large activation energy asymptotics. The results reveal that the ignition lengths for small wall temperature are proportional and inversely proportional to the Reynolds number and the wall temperature, respectively. However, the ignition distance of outer combustible boundary-layer flows decreases exponentially with the wall temperature according to previous results. Thus the sensitivity of the wall temperature affecting the ignition length of combustible pipe flows is much smaller than that affecting the ignition distance of outer combustible boundary-layer flows. For great wall temperature, the dependences of ignition length on the Reynolds number and the wall temperature become nonlinear.
