Farm yard manure contributes significantly to the build up of DTPA extractable soil zinc and it was linearly correlated with the organic carbon content of soil. The regression equation gives an increase of 0.2 ppm DTPA extractable Zn with 0.1% increase of organic carbon in an aridisol. The addition of 15 tonnes F.Y.M./ha resulted in an increase of 0.18 ppm DTPA extractable Zn in soil and only 3% of total Zn added in soil was utilized by wheat.
