Abstract

The role of microorganisms in legume performance in conservation tillage systems for hill land agriculture is reviewed. Discussion focuses on the significance of plant‐microbe symbioses in improving legume nutrient status and on the biochemical regulation of species interactions. Research imperatives are addressed.
