Mathematical modelling of soil boron concentration under field moisture conditions using the langmuir and freundlich adsorption isotherms

Pages 2649-2664 | Published online: 11 Nov 2008

Abstract

Equations were developed that enabled the boron concentration at any soil moisture content to be calculated from measured boron concentrations and water contents of a saturated water extract, the bulk density and the measured coefficients defining the Langmuir and Freundlich boron adoption isotherms. The concentration‐adsorption‐moisture equations (CAM equations) have been tested against experiment data for three soils and two minespoils over a range of moisture oonditions. Also the CAM equations were used to predict potential boron phytotoxicity problems associated with the amelioration of acidic minespoils with pulverised fuel ash.
