Molecular structures, macroscopic nonlinear optical effects, and photonic devices

Abstract

Design, synthesis and optimization of nonlinear optical materials are discussed in connection with the physical mechanisms that give rise the effects and constraints resulted from device fabrication. Brief discussion covers materials for electro-optical application, second harmonic generation and optical bistable devices.
